You can view blood collection instructions here. – I’m having trouble collecting enough blood, what should I do? For blood tests: Please fill the tube to the top line if possible. The tips below might help you collect your sample. If you have managed to fill halfway, we advise you to return the sample to the laboratory for analysis. If there is not enough blood to provide a test result, we will contact you to discuss this. If you have used all your lancets* and have not been able to fill the sample tube halfway, please let us know, other means of collection may be necessary. Lancet* (Allows you to create a small prick in your finger to draw blood) – Here are some tips to help:
Drink a glass of water. Being well hydrated will make it easier to collect your sample. Shower before taking your test or run your hands under warm water for a few minutes, as heat improves blood circulation. Do light exercise (move, take a walk, etc.) to get the blood circulating. Make sure your arm is below the level of your heart – let gravity do some of the work. Nails that are too long can make it difficult to collect a sample. Review the blood collection instructions and video, click here to watch the video.

You can view urine collection instructions here.

Once you have collected your sample, place the sample(s) into the biohazard bag and remove the plastic strip to seal the bag. Make sure you have completed the Personal information label and then return the biohazard bag and samples to the empty green BodyCheckUp box. Place the biohazard bag in the box before closing it. Stick the DHL return label on the location provided for this purpose. Make an appointment on DHL.com for a delivery person to pick up your samples. Now recognized as a distinct organ within the human body, the intestinal microbiota, formerly called “intestinal flora”, is made up of 10,000 billion bacteria forming communities within the digestive tract. The composition of this bacterial ensemble is unique to each individual and changes throughout life, highlighting the crucial importance of maintaining its balance to preserve health, given that some bacteria may be beneficial while others may be harmful. . novices.

But this is only the visible part of the iceberg, because researchers have highlighted the presence of neurons in our intestine, indirectly linked to the intestinal microbiota. With around 500 million neurons, forming the enteric nervous system, this intestine turns out to be a “second brain”. These neurons constantly interact with those in the brain, transmitting various information via blood pathways and the vagus nerve.

Overall, the microbiota hosts around a thousand different species, representing a total weight of around 2 kg. This complexity further highlights the importance of understanding and maintaining the balance of this ecosystem to promote optimal health.

Interest in the gut microbiota has continued to grow over the past decade. Scientific studies conducted worldwide reveal that we have a symbiotic relationship with the microorganisms that make up our microbiome. This lasting and mutual biological association between the microbiota and our body, beneficial for each party, plays a crucial role in maintaining our digestive, metabolic and neurological health.

In certain circumstances, an imbalance in the composition of the microbiota can manifest itself, characterized by an excessive or insufficient presence of certain bacteria compared to normal, which is called dysbiosis.

Evidence suggests that this disruption of the balance of the intestinal microbiota could be linked to problems such as depression, obesity, chronic inflammatory diseases, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s or certain cancers.

Maintaining the balance of the intestinal microbiota is therefore of crucial importance for:

Guarantee the proper functioning of its various functions.
Limit its involvement in the development of metabolic, digestive, and other pathologies.

In order to achieve this objective, it is essential to know the composition of one’s microbiota to detect possible imbalances and identify the possible presence of pathogens. With this in mind, we offer you the “intestinal microbiota” assessment, which allows you to establish a detailed map of your intestinal microbiota.

The intestinal microbiota assessment proves beneficial for any adult aged 18 and over seeking to deepen their understanding of intestinal intricacies, assess the balance of their microbiota, and have tools to optimize their health. It is particularly useful for those who frequently follow antibiotic treatments, knowing that these do not only affect pathogenic bacteria, but can also alter “beneficial” bacteria, imposing their diversity within the microbiota. After a course of antibiotics, complete regeneration of the intestinal microbiota can take up to six months.

In addition to genetic factors, other elements such as taking medications, smoking, stress and environmental influences influence the composition of the intestinal flora. So, if you take regular medication, smoke, or face chronic stress, a microbiota test is particularly relevant.

This exploratory assessment is intended for anyone seeking to evaluate their microbiota, whether to understand possible chronic illnesses, digestive conditions, lose weight or simply to maintain their well-being through rebalancing the intestinal flora.

A collection kit will be sent to your home (more information) and you will send your stool, saliva and urine samples by pre-paid DHL envelope to the laboratory. These samples are very simple and are explained by instructions and a video. After 3/4 weeks, you will receive a complete report (example) and we will make an appointment for a personalized interview with a specialized doctor who will interpret your results and guide you to optimize your eating habits by recommending a specific diet. measure. Extensive medical monitoring in the event of suspected detection of a chronic illness with file transfer to specialized doctors and discussion with your attending physician is possible subject to your authorization.

This innovative microbiome analysis, performed by the largest European laboratory and supported by AI, is not just a simple counting of bacteria. It involves sequencing the genetic material of microorganisms contained in a stool sample, taking into account your specific characteristics (origin, gender, weight, medication intake, etc.).

Therefore, it is a personalized test.

Moreover, we limit ourselves, for obvious reasons, to the research and quantification of species for which there is a scientifically demonstrated relationship with certain pathologies, and for which it has been shown that nutritional and/or micronutritional modifications can change their prevalence.

We deliberately do not mention species for which there is either no correlation with pathologies or no known way to modify their prevalence.

Finally, we do not sell miracle remedies, dietary supplements, or pro/prebiotics because we do not want to be “judge and jury.”

In your intestine, bacteria that scientists consider beneficial to health coexist, while being accompanied by intestinal bacteria considered “undesirable”. Beneficial bacteria, as a rule, clearly predominate, but some undesirable bacteria play an important role in the functioning of the immune system.

In case of dysbiosis, the composition of your intestinal flora is disrupted, with a predominance of unwanted bacteria. This situation can lead to an inability of the intestinal flora to effectively neutralize harmful bacteria coming from outside. The dysbiosis index makes it possible to measure the balance of the intestinal microbiota in this context.

It is worth noting that a significant number of unwanted bacteria appear in people suffering from inflammatory bowel diseases, such as Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. Therefore, researchers suggest that it could be beneficial to rebalance the balance in favor of beneficial bacteria.

Depending on the results of your tests, a nutritionist will guide you to optimize your eating habits and recommend a tailor-made diet.

This study will help you:

– discover why certain foods considered healthy can actually be harmful to you

YOU

– slow biological aging by addressing activities contributing to inflammation throughout your body

– improve nutrient absorption

– stimulate beneficial microbial activities such as butyrate production and vitamin production

– suppress harmful microbial activities in your gut and oral microbiome

– strengthen your intestinal mucosa and reduce your risk of leaky gut

– optimize your unique blood sugar response to foods

We will also recommend, if necessary, tailor-made probiotics.
Once we know more about which functions require additional support, we will not only connect the dots between these and determine which strains and fibers will benefit you most.

Body Check Up analyzes the activities of your oral, intestinal and cellular microbiome using RNA (gene expression) sequencing, providing the highest resolution of your physiology available. This is a unique feature, allowing exceptionally precise recommendations!
We scan your body’s entire genetic expression, allowing our artificial intelligence to analyze millions of data points that it then matches to the specific foods, nutrients, or ingredients you need.

Your body functions as a single chemical unit. Foods and nutrients act as information guiding your body’s reactions. Each individual requires a distinct set of information to function at their best. Each of our tests generates up to 50+ health indicators with personalized recommendations.

The tests are In Vitro Diagnostics (DMDIV) and as such they have been developed according to the essential requirements of European Directive 98/79/EC. This CE marking is evidence of compliance with essential health and safety requirements. We are accredited to ISO13485:2016 by an independent body.

Clinical studies are carried out on adult populations residing in France and Belgium, which is important because the microbiota has a “local” component. It is not scientifically fair to compare the microbiota of the French with that of the Americans, for example.

Furthermore, Body CheckUp supports you after the test with a consultation with a specialized doctor who will interpret and explain your tests to you.

Body CheckUp is a subsidiary of Kensington International Clinic (https://kensingtoninternationalclinic.co.uk/en/)

Located in the Kensington district of London, Kensington International Clinic (La Maison Médicale) is an international clinic created by a group of French doctors in 2010 and which includes a complete health center and 3 centers of excellence: gastrointestinal, gynecology, mental health and well-being. The clinic has more than 40 doctors and has welcomed nearly 20,000 patients. The clinic created the KIC ACADEMY which works in particular in the field of microbiota and preventive detection of cancers. La Maison Médicale has become a pioneer in these exciting areas of medicine, offering very effective diagnostic and treatment programs specifically adapted to each patient.

Inspired by the thousands of publications implicating the microbiota in health and the genesis of most diseases, the LIMS-MBnext Laboratory has developed an innovative, cutting-edge and efficient tool allowing the precise, quantitative and qualitative evaluation of bacteria: Targeted Metagenomics which allows the analysis and dosage of bacterial DNA.

Lims-Mbnext is a Belgian laboratory which employs 180 people and which carried out more than 15 million medical analyzes last year, with the laboratory receiving samples from all over the world. Considered the “best equipped private laboratory in Europe”, it is also the only European laboratory with the new generation “Illumina” sequencer, which allows sequencing of the intestinal microbiota to be carried out within the molecular biology department.

The intestinal microbiota test is not reimbursed by Health Insurance. Some mutual insurance companies can cover this type of health benefit. Check the guarantees in your contract or find out more from your mutual insurance company.

Sample tubes contain an additive or activator that must be mixed gently with the sample, to ensure sample stability.
The sample will remain stable during transport. It must be returned to the laboratory on the same day of collection. We have taken every precaution and tested different shipping conditions and temperature variations to ensure that the samples remain intact during transport to the laboratory.
In the rare event that there are transport delays or extreme temperatures and your sample cannot be tested by the laboratory, you will be contacted and our customer team will arrange for a new test kit to be sent out.

Included in the price is the test kit, home delivery, the DHL return envelope, the test report and a 45-minute interview with a doctor specializing in microbiota who will be able to interpret the results of your tests.

The role of the intestinal microbiota on our health is increasingly better known and recognized. We now know with certainty that it plays a role in digestive, metabolic, immune and neurological functions. Consequently, dysbiosis, that is to say the qualitative and/or functional alteration of the intestinal microbiota, is a serious avenue to explain certain diseases, particularly among those underpinned by autoimmune or inflammatory mechanisms. This theme has become central to biological and medical research.

The test has a sensitivity of 88.2% in detecting cancers of all stages and types. Additionally, it has an accuracy of 93.1% in determining the tissue or organ of origin in  positive cases. This means that even early-stage cancers are reliably detected. Additionally, the specificity of Trucheck is 96.3% in asymptomatic individuals and 95% in individuals with benign tumors.

The test will give a negative or positive result. A negative result suggests that no circulating tumor cells were detected in the donated blood sample. A positive result occurs when CTCs are detected in the donated blood sample, suggesting malignancy with a sensitivity of 99.9%. This can be further analyzed to determine the tissue or organ of origin.

Nearly one in two people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime and 50% of these people will be diagnosed after their cancer has spread significantly.

Cancer is the leading cause of premature mortality in France, ahead of cardiovascular diseases. In 2023, it is estimated that more than 433,136 new cases of cancer will be diagnosed in France and that 3.8 million people live in France today with a cancer diagnosis.

The goal of screening is to be able to diagnose cancer at an early stage, even if it does not yet produce symptoms. Very early treatment promotes the chances of recovery and limits the after-effects linked to the disease and certain treatments.

The test is reserved for asymptomatic adult men and women without a prior cancer diagnosis and over the age of 35.

Datar Cancer Genetics

is a global oncology research and applications company that is at the forefront of developing non-invasive technologies to improve the detection, treatment and management of cancer. The company’s state-of-the-art cancer research center is NABL, ISO, CAP and CLIA accredited. The company serves cancer patients and suspected cases in the UK, EU, US, GCC and India. The company has modern cancer research facilities in the United States, United Kingdom and India.

The test is already available in Europe under the name Trucheck and carries the CE mark.

A positive result means that CTCs have been found in your blood. The test results will indicate the location of the selected cancer type with high accuracy, and in other cancers the tissue of origin can be identified with reasonable accuracy. This means we can tell you where the cancer started to grow in your body.

If you test positive, your doctor will personally call you to discuss your results, what they mean, and guide you in your next steps, including a referral. We have established a patient pathway if you get a positive result.

A negative result means that at the time of the test, there were no detectable cancer cells for the cancers included in the test circulating in your blood. This doesn’t mean you’ll never develop cancer. For all cancers not covered by the test, no conclusions should be drawn from a negative result.

Sensitivity is the ability to correctly identify people with cancer. All TruCheck tests detect early signs of cancer at least 88% of the time. So the test will correctly identify at least 88 out of 100 people with early signs of cancer. We scan your body’s entire gene expression, allowing our artificial intelligence to analyze millions of data points that it then matches it to the specific foods, nutrients, or ingredients you need.

Body CheckUp is a subsidiary of Kensington International Clinic (https://kensingtoninternationalclinic.co.uk/fr/)

Specificity is the ability to correctly identify people who do not have cancer.

All TruCheck tests have a specificity of 99%. So the test will correctly identify 99 out of 100 people without cancer. This means you have a low probability of receiving a false positive result and undergoing unnecessary medical procedures.

Certain clinical requirements must be met in order to be eligible for this test.

Before registering, a pre-consultation call with our doctor will be arranged.

To take this test, you must:

  • Be aged 40 or over. (People aged 35-40 are accepted subject to being considered high risk, please inquire)
  • Currently have no symptoms of cancer. If you have suspicious symptoms, you should consult your GP urgently.
  • Do not currently have any clinical or radiological suspicion of cancer.
  • Have never been diagnosed with any cancer.
  • Have never received treatment for any type of cancer.
  • Do not receive a blood transfusion within 72 hours before your blood test appointment.

Included in the price is the test kit, home delivery, the DHL return envelope, the test report and an interview with a specialized doctor in the event of positive results who will be able to guide you towards the best protocol.

Not included in the test: The blood test to be carried out in the laboratory of your choice.

As this early cancer detection test is non-invasive, there is no downside to frequent testing. However, we advise carrying out this test every 12 months in the case of each negative result, perhaps as part of an annual comprehensive health check process.
